Where To Buy Chandeliers From..For Cheap

As you know we have a little crush on chandeliers over here at Dream Book. We have one in the dining room, kitchen, and laundry room. I also would love to have one over my imaginary claw-foot tub in my imaginary dream bathroom {no such luck though-bummer}. Friends and family ask us all the time how we can 'afford' to have so many chandeliers, and its really simple- we only buy the ones that are reasonable prices! Here are some of our favorite sources:
Overstock {usually our favorite place to shop}
Amazon
eBay
Lowes/ Home Depot {if in a pinch for time, and/or find one you love and have a coupon!}

Here is how we go about putting up our beauties when they come. First things first- take it all out of the box and organize it in front of you. Make sure you have all the pieces required. Lay them out as simply as possible.

Make sure you wear the gloves provided when hanging the crystals, as to not smudge them. Laugh really hard when the glove they provide is about 10x too small for your hubbys hand. We actually totally cheat and never wear the gloves..do you?!

Install it all as fast as possible, because, don't you know? The best time to start putting together and hanging a chandelier is when you have 15 family members coming over in an hour! The installation was easy, flip off the breaker, connect the white to the white and the black to the black and the green to the ground, secure to the ceiling, and flip the breaker back on {totally over my head electrical talk!}. Sorry for no installation photos, I was cooking last minute items and J was installing it on his own.

Thats our newest beauty. She's from Overstock, and cost a whopping $159. Not too bad, huh?! There was another one we actually liked a lot at Home Depot, and although it was a little cheaper {$100}, it was plastic pieces instead of glass {come on folks, you really think we can afford the real crystal? Who are you kidding?!} Before we ever buy anything online we always try to read a lot of the reviews, and we were glad we read them all because one person said that the pieces were plastic, and another {that had already received their chandelier} said that it was definitely glass not plastic. Very, very, very important to us. The black one we have in our dining room was from eBay for $250. The silver and clear one we used to have in the family room {now relocated to the laundry room} was from Lowes for $100 {we were in a time crunch with this one}.

Do you have other sources you love? We love us some chandeliers...

Adri

  1. I love it! Too funny, I actually wore gloves when we installed ours. We got ours at Lampsplus and it was the best investment I ever made. Your space is just amazing.
