Moving off of that rant, I did get some presents for the best two moms in the world!
I want to know, do y'all have traditions for Mothers Day? I know growing up, us kids would wake up really early and 'surprise' my mom with a {most likely} terrible breakfast in bed. My amazing GMA also lived with us, so we did the same for her. We would go out and pick a rose or two from the front yard and make sure to include those on their trays. We would then sit on my mamas bed and watch her eat breakfast and open our presents to her. We would LOVE this time, making her feel extra loved and cherished, because that was what she was! Now, well now I have two moms. And now I am married, and don't live with either mom. So instead of making my mom breakfast in bed, we are having a BBQ at our house on Mothers Day for my family. My MIL is out of town this weekend, so next week my sister in law is having belated Mothers Day brunch at her house later. I truly love this time to celebrate them, and make them feel special, because after all-they do the hardest job there is. I fully believe that being a mom is the hardest job there is, granted i'm not a mom yet, but thats what I believe for now.
So, what are your traditions? If you are a mom, what are some things you wish or hope your kids would do for you, so that I can try to implement that as well!

I have learned that the best gifts for my mom and mother in law are gift cards to Lowe's. They use them to buy their summer garden flowers and can enjoy the beauty till the first frost in the autumn. They look forward to it, and it is easy for me.
ReplyDeleteWe typically do a gift card to get a mani/pedi. That's my mom's fave! Take her out to dinner. My mom thinks buying flowers is a waste since they die so quickly, so we've thrown that tradition out the window lol.

My Mum always used to say every day was Mother's Day because she had us. This will be my third Mother's Day without her ...

Being a mom is the best job even if it is the hardest. I snuggled in bed with the two handsomest men in the world! They are too little to understand Mother's Day (and unfortunately Jed was at the Phoenician cooking an amazing brunch 600 other mothers), but the boys and I had a wonderful morning painting and coloring in my Mom Book that we just started. I got the idea from Real Simple (http://www.realsimple.com/work-life/family/kids-parenting/homemade-gifts-for-mom-00000000057435/index.html). I told Jed that he and the boys are "obligated" to write/color/paste/paint/whatever for Mother's day and my birthday every year (maybe even Christmas, Halloween and Earth day :) I think this will be one of my most treasured gifts, much better than a scented candle or bouquet of flowers. I suggest every mom start this no matter how big your kids are!
