DIY Cigar Box Chalkboard Signs

So there's this friend of mine named Kylie {but really its Kyle} and she's the best. No really, she is. I have told y'all about her here, here, and here. Because Kylie is the best, she sends me her latest and greatest projects so that I can share them with you all. Sweet, right?!

Her latest and greatest is extra fun this time! She was given a whole bunch of old cigar boxes, and knew she wanted to do something really creative with them, and that she did! She made these cigar boxes into adorable signs. Here is how the whole thing went down:

Supplies:

  • Cigar Box{es}
  • Paint brush
  • Chalkboard paint {from Joann's for $6.99, but then used a 40% off coupon!!}
  • Painters tape

Simply tape off the areas that you want to leave unpainted on the BACK of the cigar box {as to not cover any of the detail of the box}:

Apply chalkboard paint, and let dry for 24 hours {patience is key here!}

 Remove tape and write sweet messages in chalk!

One of the best things about these is that you can use them for anywhere in your home, saying anything you want {and being able to change that saying as often as you want} or if you are like Kylie, you can even use them in your Midcentury Modern furniture store Modern Manor!

Don't you think they turned out absolutely adorable?! I do! Now who do I know that goes through a lot of cigars that will give me their boxes?!?!

  3. There has to be at least one cigar store in Phoenix or Mesa or Scottsdale that will save some for you. Check the thrift stores also. These are good for reminders on the bathroom sink, or in the kitchen: Don't forget to bring home the ........ For the husband. Ann
