A Diary of Lovely

The beautiful and talented Helena from A Diary of Lovely did a incredibly sweet little write up on us and our home. If you are visiting from there, Hi! So nice to meet you! I want to clear one thing up really quick though, as much as we would love to claim that we installed our floors ourselves, we did not. We had a great friend do the job for us. Didn't want to lead y'all on to thinking that we are that fantastic:) Take a look around, and I hope you like what you see.

<3,

4th Of July Ideas

I hope everyone is going to be celebrating this coming Monday with fireworks, BBQ's, swimming, and family and friends. I know I will be- especially because it is also my 25th birthday! Whattt!!! I am actually excited to become one year older, because this is going to be a very exciting year for me. Positive thoughts, right?!

Anyway, here are some of the fabulous projects {food, crafts, etc.}I have found floating around the blogosphere lately.

If I didn't insist on having an ice-cream cake every year, I would for sure make this:

I love this whole decorating scheme. It is obviously 4th of july, but not overly cheesy:

This wreath is super cute, and I think you could totally do it with tissue paper as well. Also, I think to make it a little less stark, you could even use burlap for the white stripe parts!

(the pic above has the same tile that used to be all over our house and on our counters)

Thats it! If you have seen some other great projects out there, leave the links in the comment section!

Mama Kristins Baby Shower

This past weekend was quite eventful for the girls in my life. We all had the incredible opportunity to celebrate the miraculous life of baby Landon, by having a pool-party baby shower! Kristin had already had a beautiful more 'normal' shower the week before, so she wanted to have this one be more casual... which in June in Phoenix, that equals POOL PARTY!

If you are new to Dream Book Design, you can read about baby Landon {here} or check out Kristin's blog {here}. My close girlfriend Jessica and I threw the shower for Kristin, and it was such a blast. Here are some photos from the day:

Pee Pee Teepee's are totally a necessity at a baby boy shower! We wore these as hats!

Clever Jessica wrote up this I Spy game.. I loved it!

These cupcakes were heaven. The cream cheese frosting was from {here}. Seriously the most simple and delicious frosting. In the top photo I pointed out something that I thought was so adorable. Taking a simple glass candle stand {or something similar} and placing a meaningful photo inside {photo by Melissa Young}

We thought these napkins were too hilarious not to buy, don't you agree?!

Pom-poms created from the Martha Stewart tutorial {here}

This pallet was one of my favorite things from the shower for many reasons. First and foremost- it turned out adorable. Next up, Jessica found it in an empty lot, and it was already painted blue, and it was free. It couldn't have been more perfect!

All of the beautiful and loving ladies

Per the shirt, we LOVE YOU Mr. BIG STUFF! Cannot wait until you get released from the hospital and we can love on you even more. Grow baby grow! Have any of you thrown baby showers before? Tips on some of your big successes?! I would love advice, because i'm positive this wont be the last shower I throw.

Design Inspiration Monday

Check out this amazing home that 6th street design school featured on this past Friday. It's from the home of Paige from Paiges of Style.

The craziest part of this home is that it is a rental. I cannot imagine having a rental look so beautiful and custom! Great work Paige.

I love the feel of this kitchen. Its 1/2 normal kitchen 1/2 restaurant. Love it.

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend, I know I did. Happy Monday- lets make this week great!

Arizona Has Officially Reached The Temperature Of HE{double hockey sticks}

People, this title is no joke. This week, and pretty much from here on out, good ol' Phx will be in the 110+ zone. If you haven't ever experienced this yourself, your lucky. The pavement gets so hot that it can melt to your shoes, not kidding. With the temperatures being that disgusting, it makes me appreciate more and more our new laundry room setup. I know I haven't show y'all that much of the room since I introduced the new cabinet J built {here and here}. Reason being? It's still not finished, so I of course was prideful and didn't want to show you an unfinished product. THEN I realized, I am a real person {like you as well} that has a life outside of this blog, projects, and Home Depot! So here is the laundry room, as is:

Changes needing to still be made:

  • Finally finally finally pick out a wall color
  • Get a fun printed fabric to cover the cabinet {Although I love good storage, I don't happen to love the look of a million laundry products and floor products bottle}
  • Build a laundry folding table
  • Install these awesome drying rack holders from Savers {here}

Needless to say, we have a lot left to do. And did I mention that we also have like 5 other projects going on as well? And that J is in school and working? Ya, it might take awhile:) But thats real life, right?

 With it being a millllliioonnn degrees out I am especially loving having the sink in the laundry room. The dogs go through 1-2 full bowls of water a day, and this is the room that their food and water is in. Convenient much?!

Happy weekend friends! Hope you have a fun weekend, and if your not in AZ- enjoy your weather, because it HAS to be better than ours!

Eames Shell Rocker

Yesterday we got a package at our door that we had been anticipating for awhile now! We told ourselves that we wouldn't get a different chair for our office until we had sold our current one. Welp, last week we sold our chair on good ol' Craigslist, and excitedly ordered our new Eames shell rocker- knock off.

J did some research and found that he could have gotten it for a little bit cheaper on eBay or Overstock, but Lexington Modern had the most accurate {larger} size to the true Eames chair. The chair came in two simple parts, simply needing a little bit of work. The only thing we had to do was screw in four screws..using an alan wrench {which J hates more than life itself!haha}

For now, we put this baby in our office. I absolutely love the chair, but am not totally thrilled that it looks a little big child-sized to me. Maybe its that were used to our huge wingback chairs, or something, but man does that baby look itty-bitty!

So, what do you think? Do you think it looks too child-sized as well? We decided that we will give it a couple of days there, and if it becomes a keeper, then we have a great painting we will hang above the chair to make the wall seem not as big and tall. If it ends up not working for us, theres always other rooms;)

PS- thank you so much to everyone who gave their input for our dining room rug situation! We are trying to choose quickly! You guys are the best!
