Thankful Thoughts

Melissa Young Photo

Today I am thankful for rest. For a calm amongst the storm. For a sweet hubby and baby that I get to love on. For friends that leave notes in my mailbox randomly to encourage me. For my TWO families. For this community of readers that I have.

What are you thankful for today?

Halloween VS Fall Decor

I have always said that I loved all the holiday decorating before having kids. I can decorate for each season exactly how I want to, without having the cheesy other decor out. I also knew that once we had kids that I would totally embrace the cheese and just roll with it. Now though, I have been in debate with myself. Technically this is my first set of holidays with a baby, but he is still so young. This halloween for example, I only have Fall decor out, no Halloween. I mainly did this because we didn't have time to go out and get Halloween stuff when trying to sell our home. But now I am pathetically feeling guilty because it IS his first Halloween whether or not he realizes it or cares at all, and i'm not all decked out for it!

Tell me, with having kids...do you feel like you need to decorate for every holiday? Meaning, decorate for Halloween, then for Fall, then for Christmas? Or are there people out there that stay away from all the Hocus Pocus spiderwebbed mantels?

Here are little peeks in to the Fall in our home currently. I also didn't put every decoration out because of home showings. Also, random fact- my favorite types of decorations are ones that you can seamlessly add to your current home decor without it being over the top. Just like the leaves added to our milk jars below:

Lets all ignore Honeys lovely butt, ok?

Midcentury Modern House Makeover Finale: Part Two- The Laundry Room

Two weeks ago I showed yall the incredible transformation of our best friends Midcentury Modern home here. Their main living area and exterior is perfection, so obviously its not a shock to me that even their freaking laundry room is rad. It's not a huge room, and they had to make sure to keep the area by the door clear, but man did they make great use of the space. I'll stop blabbing on and just show you. This was the room before they put their magic in to it:

Now it looks like this masterpiece:

I love that they were able to use the same countertops as in the kitchen, and keep the old original door. Old doors have the best character, don't you agree?

I always love when people with impeccable taste don't just have art and fancy objects, but also have their real life on display. This hallways shows off a little bit of the people they love, and love them back. Real life in a real home!

Wouldn't you, dare I say it, actually enjoy doing laundry here? I am totally jealous of all the counter space they have there, on top of every other little detail. AND..the mail actually gets delivered in the mail slot in the door, old school amazing!

Tell me your thoughts? And while your at it, check out their store Modern Manor if you are loving their pieces in their home.

Design Inspiration Monday

You know what I love about Mondays here on this blog? Not only do they provide us all with some eye candy, but it is also easy and fun for me to write these posts. After weekends chalk full of family fun, I am thankful that I know exactly what the post is going to be about for Monday.

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. We took Braylen to his first pumpkin patch..he was thrilled {aka- he didn't care at all!} I realize its silly to take a 5 month old to things like that an expect it to thrill them, but I still wanted the memories for J and I at least:)

4 And 5 Month Baby Favorites

Bray is getting more and more fun every day. He is learning a new trick almost daily and it is totally freaking me out, but I love it at the same time. These are some things that Bray has been loving these past two months..
Schwinn Jogging stroller- I am finally getting back to my pre-pregnancy running routine and I love it. I'll admit, I still prefer to run stroller free, but when J can't wait him, I love this stroller. Its ride is super smooth and the steering is easy. It also gives my arms and upper back a little bit of a workout, which is a bonus:) We got ours on Craigslist.

Little Giraffe Blanket- Js mom got this for Braylen when we announced we were having a boy on Christmas Eve. We didn't bother giving it to him until just recently. He loves the soft satin around the edges and rubs it while he falls asleep often. I personally love having this because he sleeps at my moms and mother-in-laws house every week, so its nice knowing that he has something thats comforting to him to take along.

Carters Bumpers- After the great bumper debate we went with a full bumper from Carters on Amazon. Braylen is a rolling machine, going all which way. Not only can he roll easily, but he is beyond capable of moving his head at any time. Because of all of this, I am not too worried about him getting  stuck in the bumper. I do love it for the fact that no longer do his legs and arms get stuck through the bars, or bump his head on the iron crib.

Ingelsina Table High Chair- We recently started putting Bray in this and we are all fans. I love being able to put him in a spot where he can see me, play with toys, and stay away from our insanely licking loving dogs;) I am always in the kitchen preparing food, cleaning, whatever, so he now can sit at the island and play. Especially once he is eating this will be great. This chair also goes on so easy, so we will totally take it to restaurants or travels when we need to.

Sophi The Giraffe- I don't even feel like I need to explain this one. Every child is obsessed with this thing, and I don't quite know why- but mine is no different. Especially now that I think he is going to pop his first tooth through soon, this thing is glued to his hands and mouth!

Manhatten Wooden Toy- I never thought much about this toy until Bray started being madly in love with it! He grabs this toy first almost always, especially because it is so incredibly easy to grab. The strings on it make it easy to hold, and the wood are great teethers. He.loves.it.

So tell me, what gizmos and gadgets should I anticipate him loving next? I would love your advice:)
