2012 In Review

Something I love to do once a year comes to a close is go back through some old posts and realize just how much happened that year. It always amazes me just how much life changes, projects, ups {and downs} can take place in a year. I did a re-cap of 2011 here, and now heres 2012:

January:
This month was full of projects, both DIY style, and continuing to grow a baby. I had reached the half way mark of pregnancy and was feeling great
We built an easier version of a drafting table turned dining room table
We finally got around to showing y'all how we hide all of the messy cords and cable box, so that our mantle stays clutter free. In fact the new owners of our old home bought our 'set-up' so that they didn't have to do it! I also came clean about the fact that after 4 years of marriage, I had never let Jeremy share a closet of mine. Lets be real, I love clothes, and well..hes a boy- so he doesn't care about them. But with Bray on his way, I had to bite the bullet and let him 'move in' to my closet...ouch.
February:
We were so excited because we finally found a perfect iron crib {which we still are in love with} on Craigslist in Tucson
I also shared my heart about life and the blog this month. I was apologizing for the lack of projects and just wanted to let y'all know where my heart really was. The response I got from you guys was so incredible, and its things like that that make me love this blog.

This was also the month that I let you guys in on one of the coolest remodels ever, our friends Mid Century Modern home makeover. I can't believe looking back at these photos just how much it has transformed

March:
Mid March was a rough little time, with me going in to L&D triage because Braylen was having a little too much fun in my belly and I wasn't able to stop my Braxton Hicks contractions on my own. Thankfully all ended well {obviously!}
We then shared a few tips on how to smooth out textured walls, which we did for Brays nursery
I then shared my maternity photos that were taken by the incredibly talented Melissa Young. What a blessing she is to us
One thing that helped that belly grow and grow was the mass amount of homemade almond butter I was eating. I swear I ate that stuff almost every day while pregnant:)
I capped off the month by sharing some tips we had learned through the three years of owning our home, our thoughts on what to know about while remodeling.

April:
J and I celebrated a beautiful four years of marriage..gosh I am lucky!
Then I had the blessing of being able to tell y'all about the perfect Vintage Nautical baby shower my sister and girlfriends threw me. My family shower was incredible as well, so blessed!
Going from beautiful showers to getting rid of armpit stains, this month covered it all:)

May:
We started off by showing y'all the adorable Vintage Airplane Mobile we made for Brays nursery
Then without knowing it, I wrote a post about the Things I Will Miss about being pregnant the night before I went into labor. Love the timing of it all:)
Then possibly my most favorite posts of the year, Braylens birth story: part 1 and part 2
June:
While still in lala-newborn-land, I managed to squeak out a few posts. I shared some items that I found necessary for the 1st month of having a sweet baby
We celebrated big time when Jeremy finally graduated from his MBA program! That was a long year and a half, but I was SO proud of him!

July:
A gross hot month, celebrating the 4th with some cute decor and food, and putting up our great metal book shelves in Brays nursery
August:
I shared just how easy it is to make a crib skirt, without even having to use a sewing machine!

We had a glorious vacation in San Diego, our first vacay as a little family, and it was pure bliss
Then I shared a guide one of my loves, cloth diapers, with you guys. We haven't been using them while staying with Js parents {we didn't want to completely take over their laundry room while staying here} and I totally miss them!!
September:
Following the theme of all things laundry, I shared a great tip of DIY Wool Dryer Balls. These things  completely replace any need for dryer sheets and cuts your drying time way down
October:
We got a little busy when we decided that we were officially going to MOVE. It was fast and surprising, and totally awesome at the same time

I had the great pleasure of sharing with you guys the insanely beautiful end result of our friends Mid Century Modern Home

We finally got around to sharing Braylens Vintage nursery. Its quite comical to us that we finally finished it, and then packed it up merely weeks later:)

November:
My most favorite man on this earth turned the big 3-0, and I did a little trip down memory lane of our whole relationship. The fact that he loves me and all of my hideous hair styles, and that you all still read this blog after seeing how i've looked through the years...it says a lot;)
I then got a little sappy with you guys when I talked about Loving Exactly Where You Are
And then the month finished with something crazy happening, our baby turned 6 months..half a year...whatttt?!

December:
We started this month off with a bang, the New House Tour!!! I also asked for some advice on different things regarding the house: Textured walls VS smooth, countertop options, and french door options. As always, you guys rocked with your suggestions and tips- thank you!

It wasn't all about the new house though. I did manage to squeeze in at least one Christmas craft {which was so weird not being able to decorate a house this year!}. We made easy Christmas Snow Globes
Oh, and I won mother of the year when Bray got his photo with Santa in just a diaper and beanie
Whewh..its been quite the year. So many blessings, mixed with hard times, scary times, and beautiful times. I hope that you guys have enjoyed taking this journey with me. Sometimes I get a little self-doubt going on and think 'crap-does anyone even like this blog anymore?!' but then I get sweet emails, comments, or comments on FB and Instagram that remind me just how awesome you all are..and that at least some of you still like it over here on DBD;) Truly though, thank you for another great year. Thank you for being such an incredible support system, for encouraging us, praying for us, and offering up opinions and advice when needed. I really believe I have the best 'readers' {aka friends} out there.

  1. What a year! You have really had tons of happening and I somehow missed several of these. Off to check out the shower. And the armpit stains. ;) Happy 2013.
